The Framework Act on Settling the past for Truth and Reconciliation underwent a comprehensive revision with the goal of reconciling with the past and moving forward towards strengthened national unity by clarifying the distorted or concealed truth behinds past events. Thus, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of the Republic of Korea receives the application for truth-finding in accordance with the article 22 of the Framework Act from February 26, 2026.

ㅇKey instructions are as follows:
1. Submission Method: Applications can only be submitted by post or in person (your handwritten signature
is required on the application form).
*Applications by Email are not accepted.
2. Application Forms: The forms are available for download on the website in Korean, English,
and French (attached).
*Applications must be submitted along with the Consent to the use of personal data (2 copies).
■Note:
1) Applications in English (or French) submitted to overseas diplomatic missions are for reference only and do not
have legal effect as official documents.
2) Applicants who have difficulty writing in Korean (e.g., overseas adoptees) should write their application in English
or the local language. In this case, it is possible to submit the Korean application form by simply writing your
signature without any additional information.
3. Required Documents:
a. Signed Application Forms in English (or French) + in Korean (with only your signature)
b. Signed Forms of 'Consent to the use of personal data' in English (or French) + in Korean (2 copies)
c. Copy of ID or Passport
d. Supporting evidence (if applicable)
