Switzerland is not only a fascinating country with pristine mountains and lakes but also one of the leading European countries in the cutting-edge industries, especially in economy, finance, pharmaceutical, science and technology.

Switzerland is a small country with no natural resources and is surrounded by the world powers, but a strong country that enjoys the world’s top-class living standards. Switzerland has forged a long history of direct democracy as a permanently neutral country based on powerful national defense and gives us some significant messages.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963, our two countries have been developing close cooperation in diverse sectors. Trade and commerce between the two countries led by pharmaceutical, automobile, electronic devices, and financial services surpassed 4.2 billion USD in 2021.

Switzerland, who has been serving as a member of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission since the Korean War ceased fire in 1953 and who will serve as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2023–24, is one of our essential partners to accomplish denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula, peace and prosperity of Northeast Asia, and to handle major international issues such as Ukraine war.
